This was where things definitely got interesting. I did this third float within three days of my previous one. I lowered myself into the tank and shut the door, I felt myself fall deep into relaxation. I LET myself go. The feeling of nothing, the amazing feeling of nothing soon took hold of me. I cannot begin to explain the pleasure of feeling nothing. We live in a world of constant stimuli, when there is nothing there to stimulate yourself you sink into a magical place. There are times when I am in the tank and I do not know if my eyes are open or closed because of how dark it is in there. As I was staring, or at least as I thought I was staring, into the darkness above me these visualizations that I had heard about seemed to come to life for me. I was looking into a kaleidoscope and that kaleidoscope was not limited to two little circles around my eyes, it was like an IMAX kaleidoscope experience. Interestingly enough kaleidoscope also means, “viewer of beautiful things.” It was invented in 1817 by a Scottish physicist and mathematician named Sir David Brewster. I definitely felt like a viewer of beautiful things. I saw bubbles of colors and shapes moving above me, transforming from one color to another color, from a triangle to a square. There was a point where I saw stars, it was like I was moving through the universe. Strangely, the whole time this is all happening I know exactly where I am and that I am in control which makes it that much more amazing.
